Cincinnati Alternative Hip Hop | Those Guys - Bueno

Those Guys, from the Nasti Nati, released their new project today on Soundcloud. Bending the new school hip hop sound with some innovative experimentation, this album by Those Guys is a refreshing alternative to the programatic sound of contemporary hip hop.

Cincinnati Hip Hop | Rawkus Records, the Legacy of Mood and New Music from Main Flow

The 1996 launch of Rawkus Records was more than just the start of a new label, it was the initiation of a new conscious and creative turn in hip hop music. Acting as a counterbalance to the culture industry's commodification of hip hop culture, Rawkus opened an avenue for artists such as Punchline, Wordsworth, Bahamadia, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Hi Tek, Eminem, Last Emporer, Big L, El-P, and Pharoahe Monch

However, the history of the Rawkus era is incomplete without including the foundation laying album from the Cincinnati hip hop group Mood - Doom.

The Time is Now to Be OK to Be Great | The New Testament of Kanye West

"These kids need some type of real truth.

The time is now for it to be ok to be great.

People in this world shun people for being great. For being a bright color, for standing out.

But the time is now to be ok to be the greatest you.

There's a lack of creativity in every field because people are afraid, the time is now, the time is now, to express and for people to believe in themselves.

We have the resources on this planet to have a human utopia, to have respect for each other, mankind, we have that.

There's an old regime, an old guard,
that's controlling whether or not your going to be able to feed your kids.

They want creative people to shut up and be quite.

But these are the people,
with the real ideas,
that can actually change,
can reorganize,
can design cities,
can restructure a curriculum,
can make life easier,
and thats the part of the game I want to be in.

I figured out that my dream is every dream,
my dream is every dream,
I won't be limited to one dream.
I want to create something better for you.

We have been limited."

"If you're a Kanye West fan, you are not a fan of me, you're a fan of yourself"
"Rap the new rock & roll, Rap is the new rock & roll, We the real rockstars and I'm the biggest one of all of them, I'm the number one rock star on the planet."
"I showed people that I understand how to make perfect.... I'm a creative genius... for me to say I wasn't a genius, I would just be lying to you and myself."

Music to Deconstruct the World To | Death Grips - Niggas on the Moon

We don't post much rock music on WhatUpWally? so it is quite a coincident our excitement for the new Linkin Park album would be interrupted by our introduction to the mind bending sounds of Death Grips. We stumbled upon this album when Okayplayer posted a link to it through their Afropunk website.

The whole office stopped typing as a strange mixture of Saul Williams, Nine Inch Nails, and The Bomb Squad almost tore the speakers off our wall.

Not much we can say to describe the sound so we strongly suggest you stream the album below and follow this link for the free download.

Enjoy!
